Hope, is the refuge of the desperate..

For there is nothing else for them to hold on to , but Hope. They Hope for a miracle, they pray. They wish upon everything. A falling star, a flower, the mail van, a raven - anything and everything. You see them everywhere. They are the ones who say 'Bless You', after you sneeze. They smile, they cheer. Not because of the joy in their heart but because they are aware of its absence. They know what it means to go about a day in fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of putting their guard down for a moment, fear of their very life slipping away from them. To go without one smiling face or a kind word. Their heart aches , they bleed deep within. They know that the battle they fight is their own. They do not expect support, for they know this that they have to face is a fight of their own. They are well aware that in time of celebration they are surrounded, but when tomorrow becomes a horific tale they are alone. The bow their heads, they do their deed but in their heart they hold strong to Hope.

They wish , they cross their fingers because they do not know which would be that one wish that might come true. What would be that one thing that can make them smile again. They hope because they have reached that point of desperation. For every action they have taken, every task they have endured has been futile. They are out of plans, they are desperate for they have been burnt. And they do not have the strength to go thru another day. But yet they breathe, they strive and they pray for better days - all because of the Hope they hold within.

Never mock, laugh at somebody who hopes. Somebody who prays. They have seen more than you have, they have cried more than you ever will. They have gone thru days were they were unsure of seeing the sun rise, they have been thru it all and yet they are here, smiling, breathing and living.
We are but the sum total of the scars that make us. And it is their scars that makes them beautiful, it is the lines of pain that tells their story. When things take the bad route, everything turns sour. Your entire life crumbles in front of you. Don't judge, for you have no clue what their eyes have seen. They are the strong ones, the lucky ones for even in the face of everything adverse they survive or maybe strive to survive. They are the ones, who HOPE.

The Cheat Day!!

Who does not like the idea of a Cheat day. That one day when we forgive ourselves, when a justification is not needed but a simple nod of the head indicating we are all human and well nobody can be perfect all the time. A cheat day is nothing but our way of balancing our perfectness, a little something that we do that is so unapologetically obnoxious but so part of us that it gives us more vigor, guilt and motivation to stick to the original plan. As said, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!!

Feb 29th, the miracle of a leap day that comes once in Four Years is times Cheat day. This day is celebrated and loved. There is a sort of mystery attached, an essence of magic to a day that comes once in four years. Feb 29th is how Time balances itself and how can we be behind, resolutions are made, plans proposed and new tidings greeted as unlike the New Year's this day would have to be reckoned with only post 4 years. Sufficient time to complete the said resolution!!

Trivia about the 29th of Feb

  • Women proposing Men
According to an old Irish legend, or possibly history, St Brigid struck a deal with St Patrick to allow women to propose to men – and not just the other way around – every four years. This is believed to have been introduced to balance the traditional roles of men and women in a similar way to how leap day balances the calendar

  • Gloves Hide Naked Ring Finger
In some places, leap day has been known as “Bachelors’ Day” for the same reason. A man was expected to pay a penalty, such as a gown or money, if he refused a marriage proposal from a woman on Leap Day.In many European countries, especially in the upper classes of society, tradition dictates that any man who refuses a woman's proposal on February 29 has to buy her 12 pairs of gloves. The intention is that the woman can wear the gloves to hide the embarrassment of not having an engagement ring. During the middle ages there were laws governing this tradition.

  • Leap Day Babies World Record
According to the Guinness Book of Records, there are Leap Day World Record Holders both of a family producing three consecutive generations born on February 29 and of the number of children born on February 29 in the same family.

  • Unlucky in Love
In Scotland, it used to be considered unlucky for someone to be born on leap day, just as Friday 13th is considered an unlucky day by many. Greeks consider it unlucky for couples to marry during a leap year, and especially on Leap Day.

  • St Oswald’s Day

Leap day is also St Oswald’s Day, named after the archbishop of York who died on February 29, 992. His memorial is celebrated on February 29 during leap years and on February 28 during common years.

A Random Act of Kindness

A cool breeze passes you by, its spring and yet you find yourself sitting on the park bench gazing at flowers beside but no smile. You may think you are in a mess, however stop and smell the flowers. Stop breathe and for a minute just thank everybody you know for this minute is indeed gorgeous.

Another random day. I am waiting at the stop for my bus. For some reason it’s delayed. Minds already on an over drive planning my schedule. “So I do this and this and this. And this is to be followed by that.  “. Meanwhile another thought creeps in, “Sigh, if only this would happen so”. My eyes are engaged  in reading a text  just received. Out of nowhere a little kid appears and smiles. She has no reason to smile at me, she doesn’t even know me. But this little kid is still not brain washed into following the set decorum of our world. She smiles at me simply because she wants to. A smile so pure so divine, that for a minute I stop all that I am doing and just bask myself in the sunshine the little kid is emitting. This felt nice. Before I could get back to whatever was doing prior, a lady walks by definitely late to work by the pace of her gait. A stranger. However seeing me there, she stops and greets me wishing me a nice day.  This wasn't expected . I have never seen her before nor do I have any clue on where would I find her next. But this simple act of hers brought me a sense of joy that indeed ensured I have a nice day.

It does not take much to make this world a better place. We do have people who dedicate themselves to make this happen. God bless them though. However you and I need not be martyrs or work towards being nominated for the next Nobel Peace Prize. Just take 5 minutes off. Granted that we have 24 hours at our disposal every day, 5 minutes is really not that big a deal. Just do something nice. Call an old friend, tell a loved one how much they mean to you, buy somebody coffee, say hello to the watchman at your door and wish him a nice day, be courteous to the tel caller (she is indeed having a day worse than you are, nobody likes having the phone slammed on their faces). So make it a point to make somebody smile today . Its as simple as being nice.

A Random Act of Kindness is all that it takes to make a difference.

Vampire Musings!!!

Before we begin, let me once and for all set the record straight here. Nope, am nowhere close to being a fan of any Vampire stories: No Vampire Diaries, No Twilight series..none of them. However a thought was persistent, how would it be, to be an actual VAMPIRE. Don’t, don’t go all wide eyed on me yet. Hear me out. As I see it the pro's soo outweigh the con's. Here is a list I jotted. However do feel free to point out your list of pro's and con's..(This is going to be so much fun!!)

There must be like equal number of people on both sides of the scale when it comes to this million dollar topic. Who wouldn’t want to be alive forever? But then again why would one want to be alive forever. This is one for the debate houses. However wouldn’t it be fun to just live, I mean not worry about what is going to kill you, instead just live. Live as long as you want to.

And don’t you once worry about being lonely, haven’t we all seen the entourage they are always surrounded with (How many more movies would you want to watch before being convinced)

For those who are still skeptical about this, well get bitten by a werewolf and you shall meet death. Or maybe even a shot of vervain. And if you are the sadist type, a stake to your heart or a silver bullet should do the trick too.

Goodbye butter fingers. To be strong.  A typical heavy duty person. To literally put your weight around. Now your nodding, see I told you there is so much to do.
               Never to age

I mean seriously. The one secret wish we all have. To grow wiser but not age a day. No airbrushing pictures or using photo shop to hide those creeping age lines. To simply look flawlessly beautiful. And the best part “naturally”.

Faster than the ‘Speed of Light’

If this is to be viewed more carefully, you would see this has all the markings of “Save the Planet” etched all over it. I mean seriously. Two long strides and you reach from here to there. So just see all the time, energy and fuel you just ended up saving. Just imagine being wherever your heart desires. And nope, no more visas or traveler cheques.

     Lightning speed Reflexes

Goodbye clumsiness. With senses so strong, ears that can hear for miles , eyes that can see yards , and when you can sniff out everything in your drink, there is no room to goof up at all. You hands down win “Years Most Sensitive Person” award.

     The power of “Compelling”

To be surrounded by people vying with each other to do your bidding. Man, I have the princess goose bumps just thinking about it. All you have to do is look into somebody’s eyes and state what you wish for. And tada, rest shall go to the ends of the world to make it happen. Well they are being compelled, so yea not like they have much of an option.

To have All the Time in the World

No more ETA’s or deadlines. Well why would you be worried. You are any how here forever so why the rush. Take your own sweet time, do what you have to do. At your very own leisure. If there is a boss somewhere sitting on your head, simple bite him too. Make him a vampire, then use your special powers of ‘compelling’ and there you are, your very own boss.

     Dining Out

This can be a bit tricky . The thought of drinking blood is honestly gross. But on second thoughts I mean just maybe we will get used to it. We take medicines don’t we ,no matter how bitter they are. Maybe it is an an acquired taste. And no you’re not killing people. Just have as much as you want and compel them to forget whatever happened. There you are problem solved.

        The Sire Bond

This is like serious fun. So if you’re worried about the vampires ragging you. There is a solution for that too. Give them a little of your blood, automatically a bond is formed and now you can ‘sire’ them to do whatever you want.

    Going out in during Daylight.

Well, just maybe. But if it is that sunny why do you even want to go out. You may as well change your schedule. Or considering you have actually read this up unto the last point with rapt attention, I am sure you can as well find yourself a witch on some other website (Man, there are so many sites advertising witches) to read a spell that gives you 24 hour protection.
